How We Started
Lone Star Tech was founded by technology leaders who had spent decades inside real organizations—building systems, leading teams, and living with the long‑term consequences of technology decisions.
After working together early in their careers and later leading technology organizations independently, the founders reconnected with a shared perspective: many businesses struggle not because technology is unavailable, but because it is poorly planned, poorly governed, or forced to compensate for gaps in skills, time, or capacity.
That perspective was shaped by years of experience working within and alongside enterprise technology partners and service providers. Having operated inside those environments, the founders understood the importance of delivery consistency, trust, and alignment—whether supporting partners behind the scenes or working directly with end customers.
Today, Lone Star Tech operates as a trusted IT partner, focused on delivering practical value by solving real‑world technology problems with clarity, accountability, and experienced leadership.

Jarrod Johnston
Jarrod Johnston is a technology founder and executive with nearly three decades of experience building, leading, and advising technology‑driven organizations. As Managing Partner of Lone Star Tech, Jarrod is deeply involved in the firm’s strategy, technical direction, and client engagements—helping ensure solutions are practical, well‑governed, and aligned with real business needs.
Over his career, Jarrod has founded multiple companies and served in senior leadership roles, including Vice President of IT. His background spans engineering, operations, and executive decision‑making across a range of industries, giving him long‑term perspective on which technology investments create durable value and which introduce unnecessary risk.
While technically fluent in modern cloud platforms and automation, Jarrod’s focus today is on leadership and judgment—helping organizations make clear, confident decisions in complex technology environments. He brings a hands‑on mindset when it matters most, particularly during high‑impact initiatives that require both experience and accountability.
Jarrod holds multiple cloud certifications across AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the DeVry Institute of Technology.

Karl Binger
Karl Binger is a technology leader with over 30 years of experience spanning technical architecture, delivery, and organizational leadership. As Managing Partner of Lone Star Tech, Karl is deeply involved in guiding complex technology initiatives, leading execution, and helping organizations solve real‑world IT challenges with clarity and discipline.
Over the past decade, Karl has focused extensively on cloud technologies and the organizational complexities that come with adopting them at an enterprise level. His experience includes leading large‑scale cloud migrations and data center exits, designing resilient and scalable architectures, and building and managing teams responsible for delivering critical systems.
Karl is known for a methodical, pragmatic approach—balancing architectural rigor with practical implementation. He brings a strong ability to communicate across technical and non‑technical audiences and provides steady leadership through high‑impact initiatives where execution and accountability matter most.
His broad industry perspective and hands‑on leadership help ensure Lone Star Tech delivers solutions that are not only well designed, but executable, supportable, and aligned with long‑term operational realities.
