How We Started
In the late 90's, the founders met at a small technical college in Dallas, DeVry Institute of Technology. Their senior project was to create a fictitious company along with the products and services defined including an operating model for the business. Through many late "college" nights of building the main application, helpdesk software, in the back bedroom of the co-founder's dwelling, the assignment turned into a journey that would eventually lead to the first IT consulting business for the founders. The business model shifted from the helpdesk software product into a professional services that focused on IT support for small businesses.
Years later, the founders met up again and created a new firm, Lone Star Tech, with the goals of building a company that could consistently provide top talent, deliver projects according to best practices, and ensure strong value and satisfaction for the end customer. Based on this idea, Lone Star Tech was born.

Our Leadership Team

Jarrod Johnston
With nearly three decades in the IT industry, Jarrod has built a robust career across software development, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. Starting as a help desk engineer in 1996, he advanced to executive IT leadership roles, including VP of IT, where he was recognized for his contributions to the business. His expertise spans QA, IT Operations, and implementing DevOps and IT automation.Recently, Jarrod has specialized in cloud design, architecture, and automation in AWS and Azure. He was instrumental in the design, planning, and oversight of migrating highly available applications from multiple physical data centers to the cloud. Additionally, he has completed numerous projects helping customers migrate their applications and infrastructure from on-premises data centers to the cloud using automation. Jarrod holds numerous AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365 cloud certifications, highlighting his deep cloud knowledge and skills. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the DeVry Institute of Technology.

Karl Binger
IT professional with over 25 years of combined management, strategic, architectural, and implementation experience. The primary focus over the past 8 years has been working within cloud technologies and all the surrounding organizational challenges that follow embracing cloud at an enterprise level. Skills include architectural designing, methodical implementation of technologies, cloud migrations/data center evacuations, managing teams of practitioners, studying technology trends and economics therein, and communicating and presenting to all-level audiences as well as having an overall abundant industry perspective.
